Blind Dates! Don't run!!

That AWKWARD moment when you get that phone call from one of your friends and they say “I have someone I want you to meet and go on a date with.”……All of a sudden there is just an awkward silence followed by all sorts of negative responses (HELL NO, for what?!, Na I’m good sorry I don’t think so, I don’t trust you so ummm I’ll pass etc)...

That AWKWARD moment when your friend keeps pushing the date almost begging while you wondering what the hell the catch is for your friend to go so hard for this date…

& then that AWKWARD moment when you AGREE to go on this blind date that you already have mapped out in your head as “horrific & painful.” Now you sitting there like “DAMN what did I get myself into.” Let’s be real 8 outta 10 blind dates normally end the way we expected, HORRIBLE and I’ve always thought of them as a desperate act or a slower version of speed dating which in my head is lame!

So why am I bringing all of this up?! Well I was set up a blind date (My close friend felt I needed a change in scenery…a change in the type of men I normally attract or am attracted to and go for someone outside of my norm) so I agreed….of course I was thinking of EVERY disaster that could go wrong…(what if he is hideous, what if he smells, what if he has bad teeth and bad breath, what if he has a cocky attitude with no reason to be cocky, what if he has the lamest personality, what if the conversation is dry, what if he can’t dress, what if he is too forward, what if he is all about the sex, and more importantly what if he is just damn CRAZY!?” )

Anyways, despite all of the thoughts & concerns I still went….let’s just say I was 100% wrong! He was attractive, laid back, interactive, not at all self centered, down to earth, had great teeth, sex wasn’t even mentioned & he made me smile AND I felt extremely comfortable….so all of that worrying for a great night!

This shit doesn’t happen often! Lol but the moral of the story is take risks, try new things with new people. Not every date is successful whether it’s a blind one or one with someone you have already met….but sometimes, that unexpected time that things didn’t go left will be just enough off that negativity you feel when the words “blind date” is mentioned…..

We actually went out again…..and it was just as good as the first time. Now before everyone runs to their friends asking to be set up on a blind date, remember 8 out of 10 aren’t successful and sometimes its TRIAL & ERROR, HIT or MISS……but there could be that chance that you find someone who may have a place in your life. Rules still apply for successful blind dates as well as other dates, don’t put all your eggs in one basket, it is still dating!!! & just because the first 3 or 4 dates went well doesn’t mean that’s your prince charming or next girlfriend. It takes time to get to know a person & their wants/needs may not be yours vice versa….everything happens for a reason (Either to show you blind dates aren’t that bad or to give you an introduction to someone who you were supposed to meet and learn their purpose as ya’ll get to know more about each other.) So the next time your friend says, I have someone I want you to meet and go on a date with,” give it a shot!

The Necessities In A Successful Relationship!

So I've given this a lot of thought...I sat down and really thought about what I felt were the top qualities every successful relationship should possess... And with the help of a few friends, I was able to narrow it down!!

So before I begin let me just say this is strictly my view and my opinion not saying it's right or wrong....

1. Presence: personal appearance or bearing, especially of a dignified nature

Confidence: sure of oneself; bold

Know you got it!!! (Make sure you really got it first lol)…. Confidence should be like a permanent outfit from head to toe.(it should never come off). Whether you are walking a runway or walking down the quietest block...whether you are giving a speech in front of 7,000 people or on a dinner date with your lover...whether you are giving a presentation or on one knee proposing, your confidence should ALWAYS be present. Your confidence can set you apart from everyone else. I always give the example you can dress two people from head to toe in the same hideous outfit (one insecure & one confident) & please believe that confident person will be the first one noticed and might even have a group of ppl running out to buy an outfit just like theirs! Lol!

Confidence is Sexy , it's Bold, it makes a statement. Be careful though, there's a thin line between confidence & cockiness....the key is to remain humble . Know your worth! Think about it...if it shows that you don't know your worth how do you expect your lover to value you....

2.Independent: Free from the influence, guidance, or control of another or others; self-reliant

Intellectual: Having or showing intellect, especially to a high degree

Fellas seriously….no one wants a girl who is all about sitting pretty waiting for someone to take care of her financially. And ladies if something went left and you don’t have your own, when the relationship is over, what do you have to fall back on???? It is so NOT sexy for anyone to be lacking drive (motivation, determination, and inspiration) to be successful. Ladies don’t want a broke dude living on someone else’s income with no goals or plans of getting on their feet and being successful, just as much as a dude doesn’t want a girl who can’t hold her own. Independence is so important; it can definitely make or break a relationship! Also, have a mind of your own…yes it is normal to agree with and have several commonalities with your partner but it is also necessary to have your own mind, thoughts and individuality. Ne-yo says it best….

“She don’t look at me like Capt’n Save em, Gold digging no she don’t do that, Now she look at me like inspiration, she wanna be compliment to my swag. And everything she got, she worked for it, good life made for it, she take pride in saying that she paid for it……Only kinda girl I want, Independent Queen working for her throne….I love her cuz she got her own”

3. Sexually Competent – SEX DOES MATTER!

Yes I'm saying it sex plays a big role in a relationship...think about it what's the #1 way ppl cheat.....SEX. I feel you have to be sexually in tune with your lover (know what to do, how to do it, where to do it & know exactly how to please). I feel sex should have many different abilities ( ability to make art, make music, get crazy, be exotic, express creativity, ability to satisfy, exude passion etc) & I feel in order to keep it exciting lovers should be comfortable enough to explore and try new things from random places to handcuffs whips and chains (to each his own). Now don't get me wrong I understand there are couples who vow to abstinence so I am not referring to them. I am strictly referring to those who are sexually involved in their relationship. And just to be clear, I don't feel like people cheat sexually because they aren't getting what they need at home because in many situations you have exactly what you need and more at home but human nature and that curiosity of exploring something new is what gets people more times that none.

Just remember when deciding to commit sex plays a role so make sure it's someone you view as "sexually competent" to take care of your needs vice versa...unless you have decided they aren't that great in bed but all other qualities outweigh the sex and Made the commitment to be ok with that! sex is another one that can make or break your relationship! (just my opinion).

4. Understanding- To perceive and comprehend the nature and significance of; grasp

Communication- To express oneself in such a way that one is readily and clearly understood

Sometimes I think people automatically assume that others are mind readers! Cut it out!! I cannot stress enough how important communication is!!!!!! In a relationship 2 people have to be able to communicate (write it down, draw a picture, play it out in a game of charades) do what u have to do to make sure you communicate with your lover especially if it's an issue you have with them. Lack of communication leads to frustration, avoidance, aggravation and eventually a break up!! If you can't talk to your lover, the person who you have committed to build with, your best friend then how do you expect to progress?? Believe me when I tell you communication & understanding is key!

5.Loyalty- A feeling or attitude of devoted attachment and affection.

Trustworthy- worthy of being trusted; honest, reliable, or dependable

These two go hand in hand and this is a big one! For me it’s loyalty over everything because with loyalty comes a lot of other qualities such as trust, honesty & respect. When 2 people make that decision to truly commit, they are committing to be loyal to their man/lady and cheating is never an option. Leave the relationship before making a selfish decision to cheat because the minute you betray your lover is the same minute trust, honesty, respect and LOYALTY is obsolete and without these characteristics, a relationship cannot survive no matter what!!!!! If I can’t trust you as far as I can throw you, we have absolutely no future together……Just saying!

Diverse- Made up of distinct characteristics, qualities, or elements

It is refreshing to have someone who doesn’t blend in with the rest but can adapt to any situation without seeming misplaced. For me personally, I don’t want to be with someone who reminds me of 10 other people (lack of originality, lack of distinct characteristics) and I don’t want someone who I can bring with me to the club but can’t bring to a family function or an elegant dinner because they do not know how to adjust in different settings. I want someone who stands out (that’s what drew me in), someone who knows how to act based on where they are and who they are around (there is always a time & place for everything) and someone who is true to themselves (not having multiple personalities just to make people believe they are different or to simply be liked by everyone).

Last but not least a good sense of humor!!!!!!! Let it out, have fun, be silly, live life!!

I understand why you wanna try to make him stay home late at night, but if he wanna go he’ll he gone no lie… If he ain’t gonna love you the way he should then let it go, if he ain’t gonna treat you the way he should then let it go” I personally know a situation w. a chick that has been with her dude for over 10 years, 3 kids and recently got married. This dude cheats on her regularly, and she continuously puts up with it having the mentality that she signed up to stay by her man’s side for better or worse. I cannot support this on any level! YES I get that people make mistakes, YES I get that sh%t happens & YES I get that ppl can forgive and move on BUT at what point do you stop and realize your worth???! I’ve been said to be cold-hearted with an “I don’t give a f@#k attitude.” I’ve been said to be emotionally detached when it comes to the opposite sex and honestly none of that bothers me because I am strong enough to move past the bull sh*t. I’m human and definitely not exempt from being played but I’ve been there done that and refuse to stand for it!!! Ladies, you have to realize your worth and also your role. A man who has committed to have a monogamous relationship with you should not be cheating, NO MATTER WHAT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE…now me personally I believe ALL men cheat and I am not condoning but I feel there are some who honestly got caught up and made a mistake and there are many who just aren’t happy in their situation with their girlfriend/wife and cheats to fill the voids. Regardless, cheating is wrong and should never go without a consequence because the moment it does, is the very moment CHEATING IS TRANSLATED AS ACCEPTABLE and it will happen again. If you fall victim to this, you need to re-evaluate your situation and in the words of Tamar Braxton, “Get your life.” Don’t blame yourself because a man has a mind of his own and before cheating if the problem is you, he should have left. Don’t stay because of the fear of moving on or starting over because you will be selling yourself short and missing out on where you are supposed to be! And most important don’t stay because of your kids because FYI kids can sense, feel and hear what’s going on and it’s been proven, HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF! You are STRONG when you find the strength to leave and completely insane to stay for all the wrong reasons. (NO REASON IS RIGHT).

Hmmmmm Nicki Minaj....I enjoyed Nicki's music and creativity when she first came out & respected her creativity that stood her apart from her competition but I feel like she has in a sense gone way past too far....


Don't get me wrong I am not hating on her but I just think she separated herself from Hip Hop when she overstepped the theater aspect during her creative thought process. I mean you are an Hip Hop artist and to stray away from that, I would say YES you lose credibility.


But we will see what this Roman Reloaded is all about before we fully write Nicki off in the Hip Hop World. Her album is scheduled to be released April 3rd, 2012 so stay tuned for our thoughts on that!

According to Gossipoverload.com this is the official details about Chris Brown's abuse towards Rihanna which was released today by LAPD... Statements in the documents were made by the responding LAPD officer: “Brown was driving a vehicle with Robyn F. as the front passenger on an unknown street in Los Angeles. Robyn F. picked up Brown’s cellular phone and observed a three-page text message from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with. “A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion. “Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.’s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. “Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, ‘I’m going to beat the sh– out of you when we get home! You wait and see!’ ” The detective said “Robyn F.” then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer. “Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, ‘I’m on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.’ After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, ‘You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I’m really going to kill you!’ “Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown. “Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps (sic) that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand. “Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street. “Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand. “Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it. “Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.’s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness. “She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown’s body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions. “Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.’s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order.”

Jessica Alba gave Beyonce & Jay-Z advice about the media and their newborn Baby Blue. She suggested that they sell their first photos of the baby to the Media to stop paparazzi from always surrounding them and snapping photos in hopes of getting a picture of the baby.

Jessica Alba & her husband Cash Warren made the decision to sell their first photos of Baby Honor to Ok! Magazine for $1.5 million. She stated she wanted to be able to control the media situation & experience and the money they made from the picture, they put into a bank account for Honor and will let him do whatever he wants to do with it when he gets older.

Some of the violations included not keeping the refrigerated food cold enough & allowing workers to prepare food with their bare hands! SMH

Growing up I’ve always thought of an amazing fairy tale wedding…a beautiful dress, flawless make-up, gorgeous venue reception, my closest friends & family, a wonderful destination wedding on the beach of a spectacular island & my prince charming and everything perfect! But that’s as far as I thought……

I figured that my thought process stopped there because I was young and didn’t understand fully the complexity of a long term relationship. BUT I am older now, wiser now, and well aware of the requirements for a long term relationship & what’s ironic is my thought process of an amazing fairy tale wedding still STOPS at the wedding on a beach.

I just don’t see the value of a marriage or better yet I don’t understand it’s purpose especially for my generation (Ages 22-30). I’ve befriended many males who are married and the things they do within their marriage is definitely not the NORM or criteria for a marriage.

What goes on in Marriage’s Nowadays……

Male: Get to know other females on a sexual level so when you’re wife doesn’t wanna give it up, you have back up.

Female: Forgive him for f*cking around on you because he is all you know and you vowed to stay for better or for worse and you’ve been cheating too so you really can’t be too mad. (deep down inside you know baby #1 ain’t his shhhhh) *MAMA’s Baby, DADDY’s Maybe!!!*

Both: Meet new people because everyone is entitled to friends but make sure you leave out the fact that you’re married! That’s NOT important.

Male: Falling in love with someone else is ok as long as you go home to your wife and pay a few bills here and there.

Male: Lying to your wife telling her you at work when you really at the bar with your “boo”, telling her you with the boys when you really at dinner with your “boo, telling her you at a corporate gathering when you really laid up with your “boo” is ok as long as she doesn’t find out because what she don’t know won’t hurt her!

Never tell the truth

Write your lies down so you can refer back when they tryna catch you

Always use a condom because you can’t deny that STD or Baby on the way

Never slip and say names of who you f*ckin

Always have your phone locked and msgs deleted

Never tell your boo you are married and never tell your wife you have a female friend even when you mad

If you gonna cheat, make sure you go all out and have a plan B for when you gotta go home

The list goes on and on and on……..SO again why the helllllll would I get married?! Don’t get me wrong there are some marriages that are working with two faithful ppl, none that I have witnessed in my generation but I’m sure they exist.

But me personally when It comes to MARRIAGE I’ll pass!!!!
